Junior Instructor Programme

The Ealaín Karate Dojo Junior Instructor Programme gives dedicated students the opportunity to take on more responsibility within the dojo.

Students learn how to assist classes, support younger members and develop the skills needed to become future instructors.

The programme helps students build confidence, leadership and reliability, while also developing the next generation of karate teachers in Sligo.


What Students Gain

Students who take part in the programme develop:

• Confidence speaking in front of groups
• Leadership and responsibility
• Communication skills
• Experience assisting classes
• A deeper understanding of karate training

These are skills that benefit students both inside and outside the dojo.


Programme Structure

The programme has three stages. Each stage lasts 12 weeks.

🥉 Bronze (Age 13+)

Assist one class per week.

Students begin learning how classes are run and how to support beginner students.

Focus includes:

  • Lead warm-ups and support basic class flow

  • Understand class structure and key teaching points of basic techniques

  • Introduction to the Ealaín teaching formula and leading short sections

Upon completion students receive a Bronze medal and certificate at an Ealaín Karate Dojo event.


🥈 Silver (Age 14+)

Assist two classes per week.

Students take on a more active role supporting the class and begin developing real teaching skills.

This includes:

  • Expand technical understanding and ability to teach a wider range of movements

  • Develop class planning skills and deeper understanding of structure

  • Lead larger sections of class using the Ealaín teaching formula

Upon completion students receive a Silver medal and certificate at an Ealaín Karate Dojo event.


🥇 Gold (Age 15+)

Assist three classes per week.

Students take greater responsibility within classes and lead large portions to full classes. Upon completion of the Gold level, students will be equipped with the skills for future employment at Ealaín Karate Dojo. 

This stage focuses on:

  • Plan and lead full sections of class with confidence

  • Understand student placement and how to manage a class effectively

  • Demonstrate strong application of the Ealaín teaching formula

Upon completion students receive a Gold medal and certificate at an Ealaín Karate Dojo event.


Becoming a Junior Instructor

Junior Instructors are role models within the dojo.

They help younger students, support classes and represent the standards of Ealaín Karate Dojo.

Students in the programme are expected to show:

• Strong effort in their own training
• Reliability and good timekeeping
• Respect and encouragement toward other students
• A willingness to learn and improve


Recognition

Completion of each stage is recognised at a grading with:

🏅 A Junior Instructors Programme medal
📜 A certificate of completion
👏 Recognition in front of the dojo community

This makes the achievement something students can be proud of.
